How to Clean Your Lipsticks

By Kulaa Show, Jan 15 2021

We all know how to wash our hands but do you know how to clean your lipstick? We show you how you can keep your lipsticks germs-free for a safe and carefree use!

Supplies Needed:

  • Cotton pads
  • Q-tips
  • 70% isopropyl alcohol
  • A wide cup or a small jar with a wide mouth
  • Paper towels
  • Optional: penknife or a small sharp knife

Clean The Case

Take a cotton pad and wet it thoroughly with alcohol. Wipe the outside of your lipstick case and tube. Take another cotton pad and douse it generously with alcohol and carefully clean the inside of the lipstick tube. Be sure to not reuse the cotton pad that was used for the outside of the lipstick tube so that there is no chance of cross-contamination.

Clean The First Layer

The first layer is the layer that comes into contact with the surrounding air, oils from your previous touch-ups and may be covered in lint or other fine particles. To properly clean it, take a Q-tip and gently go over the surface to remove a fine layer. For those who prefer a sharper and cleaner look, you can take any sharp knives and penknife to cut down a thin layer.

Bathe the Lipstick in Alcohol

Pour some alcohol into the cup or jar and ensure that you have enough alcohol to cover your lipstick. You can choose to soak the entire lipstick. Dip the lipstick for 30 secs.

Pat Dry and Leave to Air Dry

After the 30 seconds is up, wipe dry the casings and leave your lipstick to air dry for 15-20 minutes.
